The multi-disciplinary residency Sound Out was announced during inJazz 2019 and took place in the Polish town of Soko?owsko between 25 and 31 August 2019. Eight creative musicians - composers, performers, devisers - of any age, working in and around jazz, improvised and art music, took part in this professional development and mentoring platform. Hornist, improviser and composer Morris Kliphuis was selected as the Dutch participant, while Joanna Duda, a composer, pianist, performance and interdisciplinary artist, was one of two Polish participants. Joanna Duda is a composer, pianist, performance- and interdisciplinary artist. She is the founder of several projects including Super Extra Trio, AuAuA and her trio with Maksymilian Mucha (double bass) and Michał Bryndal (drums). In 2019, she released her second album ‘KEEN’ which explores multi-layered narration. Joanna is also involved in the contemporary classical scene. Outside of her concert and ensemble commitments, Joanna collaborates with the physical/ butoh dance company Amareya Theatre and toured in Japan, Turkey and Greenland. As an interdisciplinary artist, she has created video documentaries and multi-media installations.

Berlin-based, Dutch hornist, improviser and composer Morris Kliphuis is valued for his original and virtuosic playing and his own musical language. As a composer, Morris has written for ensembles and soloists including s t a r g a z e, Nora Fischer, Slagwerk Den Haag and the New Rotterdam Jazz Orchestra. For the NN North Sea Jazz Festival he created music for a new group called DIMLICHT, which brought together musicians from the worlds of pop and free improvisation. Established in 2012, his trio Kapok with Timon Koomen (guitar) and Remco Menting (drums), quickly made a name for themselves. Kapok has released four albums and received several awards including the European Jazz Competition (2013) and Edison Jazz (2014).

Selin Çelik is a producer and a consultant based in Madrid with marketing and musical background. In her role as a producer she creates musical projects building bridges between cultures and countries.
