The multi-disciplinary residency Sound Out was announced during inJazz 2019 and took place in the Polish town of Soko?owsko between 25 and 31 August 2019. Eight creative musicians - composers, performers, devisers - of any age, working in and around jazz, improvised and art music, took part in this professional development and mentoring platform. Hornist, improviser and composer Morris Kliphuis was selected as the Dutch participant, while Joanna Duda, a composer, pianist, performance and interdisciplinary artist, was one of two Polish participants. In this conference talk, Joanna and Morris will look back on Sound Out with one of their coaches during the week of intense training and collaboration, Marieke Meischke.
